E-book Licensing Policy

This E-book Licensing Policy applies to all e-books, digital editions of Paricharchā, and other downloadable or online-readable publications sold, licensed, or made available through the ParibhaAsha website and its digital reader.

It supplements the Terms & Conditions and the Refund, Cancellation & Return Policy, and applies in addition to, not instead of, those documents.

A purchase of an e-book, digital edition, or downloadable publication through ParibhaAsha grants the buyer a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and read the work through ParibhaAsha's website or reader. It does not transfer ownership of the work, the underlying file, or any intellectual property in it, and it is not a sale of a downloadable copy the reader may keep, forward, or store independently of ParibhaAsha's platform.

This license is granted to the individual account holder or, where stated at the time of purchase, to the licensed institution, and is not assignable to any other person, account, or organisation.

The license granted under this policy permits personal reading for an individual purchase, or institutional reading within the number of seats or users stated at the time of an institutional purchase.

Resale, redistribution, public posting, commercial reproduction, sublicensing, or any use of a licensed work beyond personal or authorised institutional reading is prohibited.

This restriction is in addition to, and does not limit, the intellectual property terms at Terms & Conditions, Section 4.

Titles are delivered through ParibhaAsha's protected in-app reader, not as DRM-free downloadable files such as plain EPUB or PDF. Content is transmitted and rendered through the reader in a form designed to prevent unauthorised copying or redistribution.

Where a title's delivery format differs from this default, for example where a DRM-free format is offered for a specific title or licensing arrangement, this will be disclosed on that title's listing at the point of sale.

Access to a purchased or licensed title is tied to the buyer's ParibhaAsha account and is intended for use by the account holder only. Sharing of login credentials or simultaneous access from multiple accounts using the same purchase is not permitted.

ParibhaAsha may apply reasonable limits on the number of devices or sessions from which a single account may access licensed content at one time, to protect against unauthorised sharing.

Offline or downloaded access is not currently available; reading requires an active connection to ParibhaAsha's website or reader. This policy will be updated if offline access is introduced.

An outright, single-title purchase grants a perpetual license to access that title, for as long as ParibhaAsha's website and reader remain available, subject to this policy.

Access granted through a subscription, membership, or patronage plan is time-bound and tied to the active status of that plan. Where a subscription or membership lapses, expires, or is cancelled, access to titles made available only through that plan ends, unless the specific title was also purchased outright.

The specific access model applicable to a title, whether perpetual purchase, subscription-based, or both, will be indicated on that title's listing.

Where a title is withdrawn from active sale or removed from the catalogue, this does not affect the access of a reader who has already purchased a perpetual license to that title. Such readers retain access through ParibhaAsha's reader on the same terms as before withdrawal.

This commitment does not extend to access based solely on a subscription or membership plan to a title that was never separately purchased; such access depends on the plan remaining active and the title remaining part of that plan's catalogue while it is active.

This approach reflects ParibhaAsha's cultural-preservation mission: a title leaving active sale is a commercial or curatorial decision, not a withdrawal of what a reader has already been granted.

Prices for e-books, digital editions, and downloadable publications are displayed at checkout inclusive of applicable GST, unless stated otherwise on the title's listing, consistent with Refund, Cancellation & Return Policy, Section 1.

ParibhaAsha may revise prices for titles, subscriptions, or plans at any time; a change in price does not affect a license already granted under a completed purchase.

Grievances relating to e-book licensing that remain unresolved through standard support may be escalated to ParibhaAsha's designated Grievance Officer, per Section 12 of the Refund, Cancellation & Return Policy.

This policy is governed by the laws of India. Disputes arising under this policy fall within the jurisdiction of the courts at Cuttack, Odisha.
