Abhimanyu Samantasinghar (1760–1806), reverently known as Bidagdha Kabi, was a celebrated 18th-century Odia poet and one of the towering exponents of the Riti Yuga (Classical Era) in Odia literature. Born in Balia village near Jajpur, Odisha, he was deeply immersed in Vaishnava philosophy and lyrical devotion, blending intricate poetic aesthetics with divine love (Prema-Bhakti). His crowning masterpiece, Bidagdha Chintamani, is widely considered one of the greatest classical epic poems (kavya) in the Odia language. Renowned for its rich metrical structures (Chhanda), emotional intensity, and musical cadence, it vividly depicts the divine love story of Radha and Krishna. His other notable literary creations include Rasabati, Sulakshana, Premakala, Baghadhanta, and Chhadaghati.
